How to be hopeful during COVID-19

Have you hacked being a happy employee and a great boss? We, at Workinton, recently collaborated with an incredible organization – Power of Happiness – and found out that it’s not that hard. What you need to be a happy and content employee is something that is called psychological capital.

What is psychological capital?

Psychological capital has four elements; hope, self-efficacy, resilience and optimism, and together they improve your performance in life. These elements are not innate abilities, but a mindset. Any one of us can achieve these if we set our minds to it by coaching ourselves. Today, we will discuss hope and whether it can make you a happier employee and an employer.

Hope

During our talk last week, experts from Power of Happiness described hope to have two major components – agency and pathways. Agency is your motivation to succeed, while pathways are different methods to make your success happen. If you are a hopeful person, you will find more ways to achieve your goals regardless of any hardships. Hopeful people are not scared of challenges and set-backs, they can adapt to the circumstances and make things work for them.

It is hard to remain hopeful during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it is not something unachievable, you can train your mind to remain more hopeful and even the pandemic won’t seem so bad. You can train your mind to be more hopeful by investing in psychological capital and taking initiative to change your and your team’s circumstances.

What we have learnt from 2020 is that we can not control what happens in the world, but we can remain hopeful and try to achieve our goals despite it.
